Key Responsibilities
Database Administration & Maintenance
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis)
- Ensure database stability, security, and optimal performance
- Manage large-scale clusters across distributed environments
Performance Monitoring & Tuning
- Continuously track database health and system metrics
- Optimize queries, indexes, and database configurations
- Improve overall system efficiency and response times
Backup, Recovery & High Availability
- Implement and maintain robust backup strategies
- Design disaster recovery plans and business continuity solutions
- Configure replication and clustering for high availability
Security & Access Management
- Manage database users, roles, and access controls
- Implement encryption and security best practices
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong expertise in RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis)
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning and query optimization
- Proficiency in backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability solutions
- Solid understanding of database security and access control best practices
- Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Knowledge of Linux systems and shell scripting
- Operational expertise for running databases at scale
- Proficiency with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Kibana)
- Strong troubleshooting and incident response capabilities

The Engineering Platform team is responsible for building and operating the company's database platform that powers mission-critical applications across the organization. With hundreds of clusters under management, the team tackles challenges of scale, high availability, and compliance while partnering closely with developers and SREs to accelerate product delivery.
